According to legend, Goddess Lakshmi appeared in her dream and asked her to observe the Varalakshmi Vrat. Charumathi followed the rituals with complete faith, and soon prosperity, happiness, and good fortune blessed her family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People believe that worshipping Varalakshmi on this day is equivalent to worshipping Ashta Lakshmi, the eight forms of Goddess Lakshmi that bless devotees with wealth, courage, wisdom, success, food, children, victory, and abundance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Vrat Rituals<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The day begins with cleaning the home and taking a holy bath. Then place a Kalash filled with rice or water on a decorated altar, topped with mango leaves and a coconut. They beautifully adorn the Kalash with a face of the goddess Lakshmi, flowers, silk cloth, and jewellery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Devotees observe a fast, chant Lakshmi mantras, recite the Varalakshmi Vrat Katha, and offer fruits, sweets, flowers, turmeric, kumkum, and betel leaves. At the end of the puja, the devotee ties a sacred thread known as the &#8216;Varalakshmi Dora&#8217; around the wrist as a symbol of the goddess&#8217;s blessings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Decorations and Shringar<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Homes are decorated with fresh flowers, mango leaf torans, oil lamps, and colourful rangolis to welcome Goddess Lakshmi. The beautifully decorated Kalash remains the centrepiece of the celebration.
